Chicago (AP) — A five-month-old girl was shot dead while behind a car in the South Side neighborhood of Chicago.
According to police and the Cook County Medical Inspector's Office, an infant identified as Cecilia Tohma was hit in the head on Friday night when fired from another vehicle in the South Shore area. ..
Cecilia was taken to the hospital and she later died.
A 41-year-old man in another car was in good condition at the hospital after receiving a gunshot wound near his eyes, Chicago Police Department said.
No arrests have been made.
The baby is one of the youngest victims of gun violence in Chicago. According to Natalia Delevyany, a spokeswoman for the Cook County Medical Inspector's Office, she will be six months old in four days.
Crisis responder Andrew Holmes, who spoke to Cecilia's mother, expressed anger at the shooter, saying, "I should sleep at night," and urged him to bend down.
"You just killed this baby. This baby was a toddler, this baby did nothing to you," he said.
Activist Ja’Mal Green provided a $ 5,000 reward for post-shooting information.
