Police make arrest following east end robbery spree

Toronto police have made an arrest following a robbery spree.

Between January 16 and 30, police were called to four robbery calls in the Sheppard Ave., E. and Kennedy Rd area.

Police say in each case a man entered a premise and approached an employee.

In he first incident, it is alleged the suspect made a demand for an employee’s property which he stole and then fled.

In the other incidents he allegedly wore a mask to hide his face and produced a knife to intimidate both customers and employees in order to obtain cash and property.

On Tuesday, police located and arrested a suspect.

Police were able to recovery some of the stolen property and the knife they say was used in the robberies.

The investigation continued and police discovered the accused may have been involved in another case.

Police say on December 20, the suspect was at a business pretending to be a customer and allegedly stole an employee’s wallet.

Abdirashid Ishmail, 23, of Toronto, was charged with three counts of robbery with offensive weapon, robbery, three counts of disguise with intent, theft under, and possession property obtained by crime under.
