Barberio was shot in front of his home on Lévesque Blvd. E. on Sept. 21, 2021. He was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries that were not life threatening.

Souverain was arrested this week after the Montreal police major crimes division received information from the public, according to an SQ statement issued Thursday.

Souverain, who was already detained in another case involving firearms, was charged on Wednesday with attempted murder and discharging a firearm with the intention to put a life in danger.
