State seeks Manitoba's feedback on new disability assistance regulation

The state hopes Manitoba will consider the new disability assistance rule and provide feedback, family minister Rochelle Squires said Wednesday.

"Manitoba is in the process of transforming income support to better serve the specific needs of our clients," Squires said.

"This includes developing new income assistance programs for people with disabilities, in addition to our continued focus on assessing each client's specific circumstances and needs."

Related Amendment to Assistance Rules and Draft Assistance to Persons with Disabilities Rules both available online at It will be published and open for public consultation for 45 days.

"The purpose of the Disability Assistance Regulation is to improve the welfare of people with disabilities who live in Manitoba," Squires said.

The draft regulation was developed after two rounds of public engagement, consultation with key community stakeholders, and feedback from a dedicated Community Advisory Board.
