Quebec issues 10 tickets tied to fake COVID-19 vaccine passports

Quebec's anti-corruption team says 10 tickets were issued in connection with fake COVID-19 vaccine passports in Quebec.

Last January, the Anti-Corruption Commission (UPAC) launched a major investigation into allegations of fraud related to the manufacture and sale of counterfeit passports.

At the time, Quebec citizens were required to show proof of the vaccinations required to access certain businesses such as gyms, bars and restaurants as part of pandemic-related health measures. 10}

UPAC states that anyone who makes, sells, or uses false vaccination documentation may face criminal charges, including breach of trust and corruption, and may be prosecuted under the Public Health Act. I warned you that it might. Fines can be as high as $6,000.

The office confirmed Thursday that 10 tickets had been distributed in the past few weeks in connection with the investigation.

More fines are likely in the near future. UPAC confirmed that it has filed more than 200 cases with the state's Supreme Prosecutor's Office since the investigation began.

The anti-corruption team also said about 30 criminal investigations have now been opened in Quebec into the production and falsification of COVID-19 vaccine certificates.

The state vaccination certification system ended in mid-March,after the government gradually began phasing out measures. Quebec's health minister said it could reopen if necessary.
