The Cincinnati Reds have placed rookie right-hander Hunter Greene on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder strain.
The designation, announced Friday night, is backdated to Tuesday. Green said he turned 23 on Saturday.
The Reds recalled right-hander Ryan Hendricks from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding trade.
Green is 4-12 with a 5.26 ERA in 20 games this season. He has recorded his 127 strikeouts in his 102 2/3 innings.
Green, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 Draft, played against the Miami Marlins. On Monday he won 3–1.
Hendricks, 27, has had seven relief appearances for the Reds this season, with his 4.26 ERA.
