Regina man charged after cop assaulted him with bear spray

A 31-year-old Regina man faces weapons charges after a police officer was attacked withbear sprayTuesday morning.

At about 2:30 am, Regina police found her three men walking down her Saskatchewan drive. One of them had a baseball bat.

When the police stopped to talk to them, they noticed that one of the men had an empty beer can. The man misrepresented someone else's name.

When confronted, the man fled. He allegedly sprayed the officer with a canister of bear spray he took from his waistband.

The suspect was detained and charged without further incident.

Jordan Dean Peter Ross Brilts has been charged with:

  • Possessing weapons for dangerous purposes
  • Concealing weapons for public peace
  • Identity fraud
  • Resisting arrest
  • Assaulting security officers with weapons
