Cindy Martin, 50, was last seen in New Hazelton on December 23, 2018.
Last seen more than three years ago, according to RCMP. The body of a missing Aboriginal woman from New Hazelton has been found.
Cindy Martin, 50, was last seen around 9:00 pm. She left her mother's home in New Hazelton on December 23, 2018.
She was reported missing the next day after her car was found beside Route 16.
Martin is part of the Gitxsan Nation and worked with Indigenous youth in Vancouver before moving north to get closer to her family.
On Thursday, the RCMP said a body was found on her May 1 and later identified as Martin's.
The RCMP said it did not respectfully provide the family with the location where the remains were found.
In a Facebook post, Martin's family made more information available as soon as it was ready to process Martin's death and return the body from the coroner's office.
The investigation continues, and police are asking anyone with information to contact the New Hazelton RCMP at 250-842-5244.
