Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt asked for a trade, but the team told him he would not be traded, Cleveland.com reported Sunday.

Hunt, who turned 27 on Saturday, has missed the last two days of team practice and wants his contract re-signed. Reportedly, he participates in individual training only as part of a stand.

The Browns signed Hunt to his one-year deal in February 2019, giving him his second chance in the NFL. The Kansas City Chiefs cut him last November after a video surfaced of him pushing and kicking a woman in an altercation.

Hunt later apologized. He called his actions "wrong and inexcusable."

The NFL suspended him for his first eight games of the 2019 season.

Hunt will play this season in his second year of his two-year contract worth up to $13.25 million if incentives are met.

Last season, Hunt appeared in his eight games (one start), injuries and he lost time to COVID-19. He ran for 386 yards, scored 5 touchdowns on 78 carries, and added 174 yards on 22 catches. Hunt was selected to the Pro Bowl in his rookie season for the Chiefs, carrying the ball 272 times and tallying a league-leading 1,327 his yards and scoring eight points. He added 455 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. In his 32 games (9 starts) with the Browns, he scored his 2,169 yards from scrimmage and 19 touchdowns.

The Browns are running strong in his back positions, with established starter Nick Chubb, Durnest his Johnson and rookie Jerome Ford joining camp.
