Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has agreed to a two-year, $97.1 million contract extension that includes a player option for the 2024-25 season, ESPN reported Wednesday. James' contract extension, which included a 15% trade for his kicker, made him the highest-earning player in NBA history with $532 million in guarantees, according to the network.

James, who turns 38 on December 30, was set to earn his $44.5 million in the final season of his previous contract.

James apparently had plenty of money before this deal. Forbes estimated his net worth at $1 billion in June, making him the first active player in the NBA to reach that status.

James has won his NBA championships four times, was named league MVP four times, and has 18 All-Stars on his team. He has also won two Olympic gold medals.

He averaged 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists in 56 games last season.
