The Boston Bruins' next head coach is former Dallas Stars head coach Jim Montgomery, media reported Thursday.
Reportedly, the contract with Montgomery will be officially signed on Friday when the contract as an assistant coach with St. Louis Blues expires. The deal is reportedly worth $ 2 million a year in three years.
Montgomery, 53, was immediately successful after being hired by Dallas in May 2018 and returned the star to the playoffs after two seasons of absence.
But his good times were short-lived. In just 31 games the following season, Montgomery was fired for "non-professional activity". Jim Nil, General Manager of Stars, said there was a "non-professional material act" that led to the departure of Montgomery, but he did not provide any further details.
