We’ve all been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Even though it was created as a marketing slogan to shill cereal, the ubiquitous phrase has become drilled in our heads.

But even those who scoff at the blanket statement know how vital a good breakfast is while travelling.

In fact, it might be the one thing that can drag a person out of a cozy hotel bed.

Aside from the beaches, pools, museums and other holidaymakers enjoy, a first-rate breakfast can sometimes be the best part of a holiday because if you start your day deliciously right, then what could go wrong?

The folks at Mornings.co.uk researched which international hotel breakfasts had vacationers swooning over their satisfied bellies. They used three search terms (“best breakfast,” “great breakfast” and “excellent breakfast”) on Tripadvisor to determine which hotels were considered top-notch.

Sandals Regency La Toc in St. Lucia came in at No. 10 with 3,089 glowing reviews.

Meanwhile, the Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa in Antigua & Barbuda took ninth place with 3,244 raves.

Cuba’s Iberostar Parque Central placed eighth with 3,445 delectable mentions. One traveler wrote: “I am sure this is the best breakfast that any city hotel has in Havana. So much variety, fruits, jams, cheese, pastries, sealed yogurt, eggs at your choice, natural juice, butter, oats, coffee, milk, you will love it.”

It shouldn’t be too surprising that the Pan Pacific Singapore came in seventh with 3,453 travellers gushing over their brekkies.

In sixth place with 3,545 votes is the Sandals Royal Bahamian in the Bahamas, proving that the hotel brand knows what it’s doing when satisfying guests’ appetites. The five-star spot houses 10 restaurants, with award-winning chefs serving everything from “classic French cuisine at La Plume to Kanoo Caribbean cuisine.”

Hungary’s Hotel Palazzo Zichy took the fifth spot, thanks to 3,679 mentions.

In fourth place is the Chatrium Hotel Riverside Bangkok in Thailand, which had 4,086 travelers in Asia rhapsodizing over the breakfast options.

Travel about 1,500 kilometres south and you’ll find the third best breakfast in the world at Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. The buffet there provides “choice after choice after choice” — which is all a foodie could hope for.

In second is Italy’s Hotel Artemide with 4,842 glowing reviews because when in Rome … But really, the servers will happily bring you “the delicacies of the chefs and patisserie, such as tiramisu, hot bruschetta, Sicilian cannoli and a bevy of other ever-changing temptations.”

Finally, the top spot goes to the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London with a whopping 5,363 rave reviews, thanks to its variety that even the fussiest of kids will enjoy.

While the hotel is not the most attractive, the surest way to a guest’s heart is through their stomach and by the time they’re filled, they’ll have forgotten they’re in what one traveler called “one of the ugliest buildings in the U.K.” Bon appetit!
