The Colorado Rockies lost outfielder Charlie Blackmon and starter Antonio Senzatera in the first two innings of Thursday's game in St. Louis.
Blackmon was injured as a first base runner on an infield hit in his first inning, and Senzaterra appeared to have injured his left knee in his second inning trying to avoid a collision near first base.
Blackmon, 36, remained in the game at first, but in the bottom of the second in right field Winton he was replaced by Bernard. 264 with 16 homers and 67 RBIs in 107 games this season, his 12th season with the Rockies.
Senzaterra was running toward the first, with Cardinals designated hitter Brendan he with his two outs in the second after Donovan's ground ball to the right. The right-hander took an awkward step to avoid a collision with first baseman Elefris Montero, limping off the field before falling to the ground in obvious pain.
His Senzatela, 27, grabbed him around his left knee before being rescued from the field. He was replaced by left-handed Austin Gomber.
Donovan hit an infield hit and Tommy Edman scored from third base, extending the Cardinals' lead to his 4–0.
Senzaterra allowed five runs as he hit six in 1 2/3 innings. He recorded his two strikeouts and climbed his ERA to 5.07 in 19 starts this season.
