Sarnia, Ont. Woman charged with assaulting multiple homeowners

Sarnia, Ontario woman faces charges of theft and assault after Canadian flag was removed from resident property and homeowner attacked said the police.

Late Friday afternoon, a woman arrived in the Divine and Queen Street area and removed the Canadian flag from the porch of a resident.

Homeowners and family members followed suspect for "insane behavior," police said.

The suspect then reportedly ran toward the individual and brandished a needle. The victims immediately attempted to flee the area and attacked the accused when they began throwing stones.

Serious Injury has not been reported.

Police said the suspect began waving a stick at the two victims but did not hit them.

The suspect then approached the backyard of another residence and began interacting with the dog in the backyard. According to police, the owner of her second residence asked her to evict, so she grabbed the coffee her petitioner was drinking and threw it at her petitioner.

The police were contacted and the accused's whereabouts were located without further incident.

Her 30-year-old Kelsey Lynn Saar of Sarnia was charged with stealing less than $5,000 and assaulting her with a weapon on three counts.

She is being held in custody pending her bail hearing.

The Sarnia Police are urging the public to stay safe as they consider their confrontation options.

"Instead, we recommend that you contact the police and attend," read the media release. "You may want to pay attention to the direction of travel, but avoiding direct contact may be the safest option. We understand the frustration, but we want to ensure everyone's safety."
