Kids With Cancer Society Special Guest Becomes Fringe's Global Edmonton Reporter

Global Edmonton has additional staff on hand for a very special assignment at theEdmonton International Fringe Theater Festivalon Wednesday.

Her four youngsters from Kids with Cancer Society make her day with her Carole Anne Devaney and Jesse Beyer from Global Edmonton at the Fringe Festival spend Reporter. It's all part of Kids with Cancer Society's dream of becoming a global news reporter.

Mission The reporters that day are Mariana, Gaberiel, Ellie and Kaylin.

Mariana, 9, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in January 2020. Her treatment she won't finish until 2023. Mariana loves the colors pink and purple and she enjoys art, singing and Lego.

Gaberiel was diagnosed with a malignant ovarian germ cell tumor when she was 10 years old. This is a rare childhood cancer. A nearly seven-pound tumor that affected her right ovary and fallopian tube was removed during her emergency surgery. The tumor has since recurred in her liver, diaphragm, and lungs. Gaberiel then underwent nearly four months of intensive chemotherapy, three major surgeries, and two minor surgeries. She is now 13 years old and is currently in remission due to her long-term monitoring. Gaberielle enjoys painting, digital sketching, cycling and reading.

Ellie, 12, was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia in February 2021. She has been in treatment for 6 months and is due to finish in June 2023. She loves makeup, handicrafts and music.

Diagnosed with blastosis developed leukemia in April 2021 and will continue her treatment for 3 years. She is a creative girl who loves art, singing and music.

The kids start her day with a show on the fringe. On Global News at Noon, all four will be broadcast live with chief meteorologist Jesse Beyer to provide the people of Edmont with the latest weather forecast. Their day also includes putting together all the articles for 5 o'clock Global News and her 6 o'clock Global News Hour with the help of anchor Carole Ann her Devaney.

This year's dream experience was presented by Frank Lovsin, Qualico Communities and Dan Hamilton at the Beaded Journey Gala earlier this year. Purchased for $36,000. All proceeds from this experience will go directly to the Kids with Cancer Society.
