Turner, who has represented the ward since 2014, has resigned from the elections this fall and is now one of the two candidates running for the ward's elections, Skyler. He says he plans to throw support behind Franke.
This move leaves another council seat wide open for the October elections. At least four other council members, including Mayor Ed Holder, have not sought re-election. One isrunning for mayor, while at least three have not yet submitted nominations.
"It has been an honor and a wonderful job to serve the residents of District 11 for the past eight years and I really enjoyed this job. I am a really important issue in our community. I enjoy helping to move things forward, "Turner told Global News.
