Copenhagen, Denmark (AP) — An 18-year-old man who attacked and killed two teachers with a knife and ax at a high school in southern Sweden in March was charged with two murders. The prosecutor said on Wednesday.

A man who was a student at a school in Malmö, Sweden's third largest city, was arrested shortly after the incident on March 21. The suspect was previously unknown to the authorities and had no criminals. Records, and both victims, were found on the third floor of downtown Malmeratin School 10 minutes after police were warned.

Defendant's lawyer Anders Ellison previously told Swedish media that the behavior of an unidentified suspect was "completely unexplainable" and the attack sent school. He said it wasn't what he was aiming for. Or two teachers.

School students with about 1,100 students gathered to work on music, and the students were trapped in the classroom.

The killings took place in the modern annex of the school, founded in 1406, when the Pope issued a privileged letter permitting its construction and operation. Originally aimed at educating local youth about Christian doctrine and Latin.
