Investigators have released images of a male suspect and a vehicle of interest in a 51-year-old man’s stabbing in Whitby last week.

Durham Regional Police say officers responded to the incident near Dunlop St. E. and Brock St. S. around 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 2 and found a man with life-threatening injuries.

A mall parking attendant near the scene told The Sun previously the victim, who was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre, had been stabbed in the chest several times.

Police say the suspect — described as a short male with a small build wearing all black clothing, including an Adidas T-shirt underneath his jacket and white shoes — fled east in a black four-door cross-over from Dunlop St.

Investigators are still looking into the motive for the stabbing.
