SQ will be enabled on Quebec roads at Fete National Weekend

Road and highway patrols will be enhanced during the long weekends of Canada Day.

Quebec police say a long weekend on Fete National and Canada Day We plan to strengthen road and highway patrols.

Patrol officers specifically monitor people who are speeding or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Sûreté du Québecis a statementthat is expected to increase road patrols from Thursday to Sunday and from June 30th to July 3rd. Many Quebécois are expected to travel on both long weekends.

Last year, nine deadly clashes were recorded during this period, SQ said. According to SQ, in Quebec, speeding and driving disabilities remain the main cause offatal collisions.

Not wearing a seatbelt and not using a mobile phone while driving is also a major concern for SQ. Both of these crimes are monitored by police.
