An explosion broke out in the Russian city of Belgorod near the border with Ukraine, causing a fire in a residential building, said Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of the Belgorod region. It states as follows. Posted to the Telegram messaging app early on Sunday.
He said three injured people were taken to the hospital.
"The reason for the incident is under investigation," Gladkov said. "Probably the air defense system worked."
