Three rescued after plunging into Lake Ontario while skating: Toronto cops

The Toronto Police Marine Unit have rescued three people who fell into the icy waters of Lake Ontario while skating.

Emergency crews were called just after 8:30 a.m. on Monday for a water rescue after three people were located in the water off the Toronto Islands.

Police say two people who were skating fell through the ice.

A third person tried to help them and also fell in.

“Please stay off the ice. It is not safe,” police said.

The trio were being assessed by paramedics for hypothermia.
