Bradenton, Florida (AP) — Officials said a toddler was found dead on a canal near an apartment complex in Florida on Friday morning.
Someone called 911 and reported what appeared to be a child on a canal near the Carlton Arms apartment, Bradenton police said in a news release. The person pulled the child out of the water and waited for rescue workers.
Investigators have identified the child as a two-year-old boy who lived in a nearby apartment complex. Officials said the cause of death appeared to be drowning, but coroners would make an official decision.
Investigators said they were working with the child's family to find out how the boy arrived at the canal. The criminal accusation was not reported immediately.
