WASHINGTON — The US Senate on Saturday cut carbon emissions that contribute to climate change, allowing Medicare to negotiate lower prices for some medicines for the elderly, and allowing businesses and wealthy Americans to pay more taxes.
The Senate voted her 51 to 50, with Vice President Kamala Harris opening the debate in a draw. Senate Republicans did not vote in favor of moving the bill forward. (Reporting by Richard Cowan and Makini Brice, Editing by Jonathan Oatis)
