British police arrested a 38-year-old man on terrorism charges at Luton Airport on Wednesday, London's Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

The BBC reported that the man arrested was Aine Davis, who has been accused of being part of the Islamic State (ISIS) group that killed the hostages. Her group of four men, who had been with ISIS in Syria, were nicknamed "The Beatles" by the hostages because of their British accent.

A police statement did not identify those arrested. The man was "arrested in connection with an offense under Sections 15, 17 and 57 of the Terrorism Act 2000 and taken to a South London police station where he remains in police custody," it said.

Davis of London flew into Luton airport after being released from a Turkish prison where he was serving a seven-and-a-half-year sentence on terrorism charges, according to a BBC report.

From 2012 to 2015 he released a video in which he murdered four US citizens: journalists James Foley and Stephen Sotloff, and aid workers Kayla Mueller and Peter Kassig. Afterwards, IS cells attracted international attention. Other victims included two British aid workers and two Japanese journalists. (Reporting by Sivam Patel of Bangalore; Editing by Grant McCool)
