Vancouver police are investigating a series of violent strangers in the city.

Constable Tania Vicintin suspects an unknown male attacker or attackers were involved. All three alleged assaults said they occurred within about two hours of Thursday night, and anyone with information should contact police.

According to investigators, the first attack occurred shortly after 6:30 pm. Under the Granville Street Bridge, a 70-year-old man approached from behind, tackled him to the ground, and punched and kicked him several times. A 33-year-old woman who was in the hospital was approached from behind and punched in the face about 45 minutes later.

According to police, the third attack occurred shortly before 8:45 p.m., West as she was walking near Broadway and Alder Her Street. A 23-year-old woman was stabbed and was seriously injured, although not life-threatening.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to call the Vancouver Police Department's Major Crimes Division at 604-717-2541.

The man allegedly involved in the stabbing was last seen heading south down Alder Street.

"Such incidents not only leave victims with physical and emotional scars, but they also cause fear and anxiety throughout the community," he said Mr Visintin.
