Not LeBron James’ record-setting shot to make him the league’s all-time leading scorer. No, we’re talking Drake’s dunk on King James that stole the show.
It also might have been the Toronto rap and hip hop star’s best video yet.
“Lebron, what a legendary night in NBA history,” said Drake in a video address to celebrate the Los Angeles Laker passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the scoring list.
The video showed Drake dribbling a basketball in a high school gym with some green temporary stands behind him.
“You’re breaking the all-time scoring record. And to honour that, I had to come back to the place that it all started – Akron, Ohio,” said the Toronto Raptors ambassador. “Every journey has its beginning and tonight …”
But then came the slam.
Suddenly, the gym disappears and it appears to be a green screen that falls down. Next you can hear the sounds of a nightclub as Drake looks back.
Sure enough he’s not in a gym in Akron after all. The new backdrop is a nightclub, with Drake standing in front of a bevy of attractive partiers who are not watching the game at all.
“I lied to you,” teases Drake. “I’m actually still at the club in Miami but definitely all the girls say congrats. Right, girls?”
Talk about a rim shot!
LeBron also received some nice congratulations from stars like Rihanna and Steph Curry but it was the one from the famous guy from The Six that was the best.
We write about Drake when things don’t go well so it only seems fair we write about him when it provides the highlight of the night.
