Want to make the men’s FIFA World Cup watching a cinematic experience?

Well, Cineplex is making that wish come true by hosting viewing parties in 34 select theatres across the country from St. John to Vancouver — including 15 in Ontario — for Sunday’s highly anticipated Canada vs. Croatia match at 11 a.m. ET and Canada’s meetup on Thursday against Morocco at 10 a.m. ET.

As the Canadian national soccer teams head to their respective FIFA World Cups, Derek Van Diest is on the scene to cover all the action. Expect expert insights and analysis in your inbox daily throughout the tournaments, and weekly on Thursdays for the rest of the season.

The downtown Toronto location is Scotiabank Theatre on Richmond St.

And it’s all for a good cause.

All proceeds from the $5 admission will go to Foodbanks Canada to help support its holiday food drive efforts.

Tickets to the viewing parties are available online now through Cineplex.com and in-person at participating theatre box offices in partnership with Bell Media’s TSN, CTV and (French Canadian broadcaster) RDS.

The theatre chain says popcorn and other concessions will be available during the matches and, where permissible by provincial liquor laws, alcohol will also be served.
