'We are not pigs': Protesters demanding trash cans closed Point Douglas Street on Monday

Demonstrations that blocked traffic on Higgins Avenue near Annabella Street have now ended.

Mr. Russell said the group is confident the city will help, but has so far failed to take any action, leading to public outcry.

``This is an election year. We are taxpayers. We didn't come to you and ask for our opinion, but we will give you an opinion in some way."

Global News reached out to the City of Winnipeg for comment. As of Monday morning, the city said it was investigating the matter.
