Weather: A few flurries Monday afternoon, cold snap expected by end of week

After a weekend of weather alerts and snowfall warnings, expect a few more flurries to return on Monday afternoon.

The capital region was blanketed by snow over the weekend but there should be a brief reprieve Monday morning, with increasing cloudiness through the day.

A few flurries will begin early Monday afternoon, according to Environment Canada, with about two centimetres expected.

Winds will be up 15 km/h.

The projected daytime high is -7 C with a wind chill of -17 C on Monday morning and -11 C by the afternoon.

Flurries are expected to taper off after midnight.

Winds overnight will be up to 15 km/h with a low of -16 C and a wind chill of -8 C Monday evening and -19 C overnight.

Environment Canada forecasts seasonal temperatures this week until a cold front moves in Thursday night.

Average temperatures at this time of year are a high of -6 C and a low of -15 C.

The forecast for Tuesday is sunshine with a high of -8 C and a low of -15 C. Wednesday looks like a high of -6 C, dipping to -11 C at night.

The shift comes Thursday, according to the Environment Canada forecast, when the expected daytime high of -2 C with a chance of flurries dips down to -25 C overnight.

Friday’s forecast calls for a high of -20 C during the day and -31 C in the evening.
