Westmount blue-collar workers launch two-day strike

The workers, without a contract since the end of 2019, say negotiations are stalled over the issue of schedules and salaries.

Blue-collar workers in Westmount launched a two-day strike on Tuesday morning to protest against stalled contract talks.

Without a collective agreement since the end of 2019, the workers, members of the Syndicat des cols bleus regroupés de Montréal, say negotiations have stalled over the issue of salaries and work schedules.

The union voted last Nov. 22 in favour of pressure tactics including a general strike. Tuesday’s walkout began at 7 a.m. and is scheduled to end at 7 a.m. Thursday.
