Where is Ward 2?
SURVEY RESULTS
Do you reside within this ward?
Laura Dudas: Yes
Lori Stinson: Yes
Chris Fraser: Did not participate
Why do you think you’re the best person to represent your ward?
Laura Dudas: “Prior to being our councillor, I was a dedicated community advocate, including a decade as president of the Blackburn Community Association. Giving back to my community and helping others is who I am. Listening to residents and representing their concerns has been my priority for my last four years on council”
Lori Stinson: “As a longtime resident of Orléans West-Innes, I love this vibrant and diverse community. When elected, I will work for and be accountable to you. I will work to improve our community, eliminate developer influence and the democratic deficit at city hall and build an accountable, accessible municipal government”
Chris Fraser: Did not participate
What is the most important issue in your ward? Why?
Laura Dudas: Submitted multiple issues, awaiting updated response
Lori Stinson: “Reliable, efficient, affordable and convenient public transit is one of the most important issues in Ward 2. Transit is an essential service for seniors, young people and all those living and working in our ward. For too long, our public transit system focused on East-West commuting while cutting routes within our community. We must restore community-based routes and improve upon transit within our ward. We also must ensure that transit is the affordable option. We cannot continue to pay higher and higher transit fares for inadequate service. Transit ridership will continue to decline as long as service remains as it is and fares continue to rise”
Chris Fraser: Did not participate
What is the most important issue citywide?
Laura Dudas: “The rising cost of living impacts all Ottawa residents. Whether it is the price of gas, groceries, extracurriculars or just bills, everything is costing more. Ottawa needs a city hall that respects taxpayers and residents and prioritizes keeping property taxes and city services affordable”
Lori Stinson: “Building a municipal government that people can trust is the most important issue facing Ottawa. City hall and those that work within it should work for everyone, not the well-connected. The next council must limit the revolving door between the development industry and those who regulate it at city hall. The next council should vote to allocate funds toward the infrastructure and services we need, not more giveaways to the private sector. A trusted, transparent, accountable municipal government is the foundation upon which a better Ottawa can be built”
