The All England Club appeals a $ 250,000 fine imposed by the WTA for the organization's decision to ban Russian and Belarusian players from Wimbledon.

Sally Bolton, CEO of the All England Club, confirmed the fine on Monday and said the organization was "extremely disappointed" by the WTA's decision to impose a fine. She said the All England Club had appealed.

In April, the AEC decision to ban Russian and Belarusian players was made in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

"We support the decision we made, we are deeply disappointed with the tour's reaction to that decision, and I'm probably at the moment it. I can't say anything more about it, I'm afraid, "Bolton said.

"But that was an absolutely right decision for us. It is the only viable option in the context of the government guidance being implemented and we support that decision. "She added.

The WTA has also imposed a $ 750,000 ban on the Lawn Tennis Association (British Tennis Federation). This was also done at a lawn court adjustment event in Eastbourne, Nottingham and Birmingham.

A $ 1 million fine was first reported by the Daily Mail. ATP does not currently impose any fines on AEC or LTA.

Both ATP and WTA have chosen to remove ranking points from Wimbledon. The decision was made after the ATP and WTA expressed disappointment with the ban.
