Winterlude resumes activities following Friday shutdown, Skateway closed Feb 4-5

Winterlude is back in action after being forced to cancel activities due to Friday’s extreme conditions.

But they’re starting slow.

“Given the extreme weather conditions and to ensure the security of staff, volunteers, and visitors, Snowflake Kingdom in Gatineau will open at noon and the launch of the Winterlude National Ice-Carving Championship on Sparks Street … will be at 10 a.m.,” the event reported on its website

“Also note that the OLG Sno-Bus service will begin at noon.”

The news isn’t so good for the Rideau Canal Skateway.

“Due to ice conditions, the Rideau Canal Skateway is closed during the first weekend of Winterlude on February 4 and 5.”
