“According to the first information collected from witnesses, the vehicle was traveling in a southerly direction on Angrignon Blvd. The accident possibly took place when the pedestrian attempted to cross the street eastbound, between two intersections,” said officer Gabriella Youakim, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

The 80-year-old woman suffered upper body injuries. She was in critical condition when taken to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver, a 40-year-old man, was not injured.

Alcohol and speed were not believed to be a factor, police said.
