A ride on an all-terrain vehicle on a frozen lake in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region Thursday afternoon turned into a nightmare after the vehicle fell through the ice, leaving a woman dead. A man and infant were rescued by emergency services.
The incident occurred on Fournière Lake in the municipalité of Rivière-Héva.

The Sûreté du Québec said the ice gave way under the weight of the vehicle. A 23-year-old woman was recovered from the frigid water but later died in hospital. First responders rescued a 24-year-old man and an infant who were suffering from hypothermia but are expected to recover.
