Worker struck by large piece of concrete, lowered by crane from ninth floor of building under construction

A construction worker had to be lowered by a crane from the ninth floor of a building under construction on Rideau Street Friday after he was struck in the by a large piece of concrete being moved into position.

The incident occurred just before 2 p.m. at the site Waller and Cumberland streets.

Ottawa paramedics said the the worker, a man in his 30s, suffered multiple injuries.

He was taken to the trauma unit in serious, but stable condition.
