The Trinamool Congress on Tuesday launched a ‘jumla meter’ to “bust the lies and propaganda” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking at a press conference in Delhi, Rajya Sabha member Derek O’ Brien said, “We appeal to young people between the age of 18-35 years that they should realise that no work has been done in last five years and now they are trying to sell you more dreams.”

The ‘jumla meter’ on the Trinamool website would start working within an hour of a speech made by Mr. Modi and BJP president Amit Shah, to counter their claims. As a beginning, it raises 15 promises that the BJP government “failed to deliver”. It says that while Mr. Modi promised that self employment would be encouraged, the truth is a “45 year high unemployment”. While the PM said that national development would be driven by States, the truth is, “federal structure has been killed. Special category status for Andhra Pradesh was denied. Inadequate funds given for flood relief to Opposition states like Bengal and Kerala.”

Mr. O’Brien said a coalition of Opposition parties would come to power. “After May 23, when we come to power we will ensure elections happen immediately in Kashmir and give the healing touch,” he said.
