Unity Party Writes NEC Observations On The Conduct Of October 10 Elections

Joel Cholo Brooks is a Liberian journalist who previously worked for several international news outlets including the BBC African Service. He is the CEO of the Global News Network which publishes two local weeklies, The Star and The GNN-Liberia Newspapers. He is a member of the Press Union Of Liberia (PUL) since 1986, and several other international organizations of journalists, and is currently contributing to the South Africa Broadcasting Corporation as Liberia Correspondent.

The opposition Unity Party (UP) has written the National Elections Commission (NEC), expressing several concerns on the conduct of the just ended October 10, 2023 general and presidential elections.

In a 2-page communication to the NEC outlined several concerns including the huge numbers of invalid votes across the country discovered during the vote counting process, and further noted that for example in Maryland County there were record of counts from ballot boxes counted on the night of the elections among other things included in the communication to NEC.
