Vetkuk vs Mahoota bring Spring Jump Off event

By Thoboloko Ntšonyane

MASERU – The Annual Spring Jump Off event is set to be hosted in Lesotho for the first time since its inception, 21 years ago.

Dj Vetkuk vs Mahoota, Jotham Mbuyisa, and Zynne Sibika, Dj Vetkuk vs Mahoota’s real names respectively are the brains behind this crowd-pulling event.

The event will be hosted by Vetkuk vs Mahoota, in collaboration with Piano Hub, Cuban Linx, and Big Events, and in partnership with the Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation (LTDC).

Dj Mahoota said 80 percent of the performers will be local acts, adding that they are looking forward to making collaborations with local artists.

He said this event will afford the Lesotho musicians to rub shoulders with South Africa’s big names in the entertainment industry.

Dj Mahoota further said they are looking forward to future collaborations with Lesotho artists.

The event will see a fusion of different genres from hip-hop, Amapiano, rap, and kwaito to house.

LTDC Public Relations Manager (PRO) ‘Manchafalo Motšoeneng said this event is expected to attract many tourists coming to the country.

She said this partnership will be a boon for the tourism industry.

Tourism is one of the industries hard hit by the COVID-19-sponsored measures that the country imposed to curb the spread of the pandemic. With the ease of pandemic restrictions more social and economic activities that were prohibited have resumed.

LTDC Head Strategic Marketing Tebello Thoola said one of the functions of LTDC is to market Lesotho as the unique destination of choice saying that this event is an effort to advance this objective.

Vistilesotho.travel website captures Lesotho as “the magical mountain kingdom … [and] one of Africa’s most intriguing and rewarding off-the-beaten-track gems. A land of intoxication heights and exciting extremes, it is set entirely above 1, 388 meters [above the sea level], the highest low point of any country in the world, while the 3, 482-meter summit of Thabana Ntlenyana stands as Africa’s loftiest peak south of Kilimanjaro.”

Some of the musicians who will entertain the crowds are Vetkuk vs Mahoota, Aka, Kbza de Small, Thebe, Dj Mekonko, Thizozo, Phamola MC, Mura, Dj Scandal, Dimmo, Pablo Dj, Kopper, Prime, Tshepza Dj, Ebonics, Bull, Mosca, Shaqez, Katz and Smooth.

This musical extravaganza is expected to take place on September 3 in Maseru.

Dj Mahoota said after the event, they will engage in the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
