Brazil's Lula skips BRICS meeting after minor injury

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva wont be attending the BRICS summit in Kazan Russia this week. The 78-year-old leader had to cancel his trip after getting a small cut on his neck from an accident at home (the details of which werent shared)

Hospital Sirio Libanês in Sao Paulo gave a statement saying that Lula shouldnt go on long trips‚ but its okay for him to do other stuff. Doctors Roberto Kalil and Ana Heleno Germoglio are going to keep an eye on how Lula gets better

The presidents office said Lula will still be part of the summit using video calls and hell keep working in Brasilia. The BRICS meeting which includes Brazil Russia‚ India China and South Africa was set for 22-24 October 2024

Even though he cant travel Lula plans to stay busy with his presidential duties. The government didnt give more info about what caused Lulas injury but assured that its not serious
