A judge made public some documents from Trumps election case. Most of the 1‚900 pages were hidden but showed social media posts‚ video transcripts and other known info. The release comes before next months election
In a recent development‚ a judge has made public a set of documents related to Donald Trumps election interference case. The release which happened last week‚ included almost 1‚900 pages of material however‚ most of it was blacked-out
The visible parts of the documents didnt reveal much new information. They showed screenshots of Trumps social media posts about the 2020 election and a transcript of his video message to the people at the Capitol on Jan 6 2021. In that message‚ he told them to leave but also said “we love you“ and “youre very special“
The release also included parts of Mike Pences book‚ some witness statements from the Jan 6 committee and a transcript of Trumps phone call to Georgia officials. In that call‚ he asked them to “find“ votes to change the election result
We love you‚ youre very special
Other visible items were:
- Fundraising emails from Trumps 2020 campaign
- Pences letter to Congress on Jan 6
- Parts of prosecutors arguments against Trumps immunity claim
The judge decided to release these documents despite Trumps lawyers saying it was too close to next months election. She said it wouldnt be right to consider the political calendar
Most of the pages were blank because of rules about keeping grand jury information secret. The release is meant to help the judge decide what claims can go to trial after a Supreme Court decision about three months ago that gave former presidents some protection for their official acts
