Romanian jets take off after unknown flying object enters airspace

On 16th oct‚ Romania had to send up four fighter planes cause a small flying thing (probably a drone) got into its air space. The thing flew about 14 km into the country in Constanta county which is in the southeast

Romania (its in the European Union and NATO) has a 650-km border with Ukraine. For about two years now bits of Russian drones have been falling on Romanian land as Moscow attacks Ukrainian ports

The defense ministry said “The radar signal showed something crossed our land border at around 1600 GMT“ The thing was first seen over the Black Sea heading to Romania

Romania sent up two F-16 planes and two Spanish F-18s (these are doing air patrols in Romania for the rest of the year) The pilots couldnt see the drone though

People living in Constanta county were told to hide. The army will look for where the thing might have crashed when morning comes

In early sept‚ both Romania and Latvia had Russian drones fly into their air space. This made people worry things might get worse. Defense ministers from NATOs east side all said NATO needs to do something about these drones flying where they shouldnt

Then in late sept‚ another Russian drone flew into Romanias air space

We need a robust coordinated response from the alliance to drone airspace breaches
