Russian night attacks on Ukraine leave multiple cities hit

Russian forces carried out extensive air strikes on Ukraine during the night hitting several cities including Kyiv‚ Lviv‚ and Kryvyi Rih. The attacks resulted in at least 17 injuries‚ among them a rescue worker in Kryvyi Rih located in the eastern part of the country.

In Kyiv‚ the military administration reported via Telegram that around 10 drones were shot down near the city. Thankfully‚ there were no reports of destruction or injuries in the capital. However‚ residents experienced two air alerts lasting approximately three hours in total.

The Lviv region‚ situated close to the Polish border also faced a drone attack. Fortunately‚ no damage was reported in the early hours of 10/20/24.

The city of Kryvyi Rih (located about 400 km southeast of Kyiv) bore the brunt of the attacks. According to Ukraines interior ministry‚ 17 people were injured – including a rescue worker – with eight requiring hospitalization. The ministry stated that a city administration building was partially destroyed‚ and several residential buildings and cars were damaged. A short-lived fire also affected emergency services equipment.

The ministry shared photos on Telegram showing emergency services attending to injured individuals in darkness and images of damaged vehicles.

Reuters couldnt independently confirm these reports‚ and Russia didnt provide immediate comment. Both sides in the conflict – which began with Russias full-scale invasion of its smaller neighbor roughly two years and eight months ago – deny targeting civilians
