Truck driver to face charges in deadly Polish highway crash

Polish authorities are getting ready to charge a truck driver for a big crash that happened on a highway close to Gdansk. The accident which took place couple days ago‚ resulted in four deaths (two of them young boys) and left 15 people hurt.

The crash involved 21 vehicles – 18 cars and 3 trucks – carrying 56 people in total. It all started when a truck hit a car‚ causing a chain of crashes on the S7 highway.

Mariusz Duszyński‚ speaking for the Gdansk prosecutors office‚ said they plan to accuse the 37-year-old driver of causing a traffic disaster that put many lives at risk. The truck was going 89 kph in an 80 kph zone and didnt stop before hitting the car in front. The driver wasnt drunk or using his phone.

Its a sad fact that among those who died were two boys‚ 7 and 10 years old traveling in one of the cars. The other two victims havent been named yet.

TVN24 a private TV channel showed the suspect being taken to the prosecutors office to be charged. The investigation is still going on as authorities try to understand exactly what happened in this terrible accident
