In a strategic move to recapture media attention, Donald Trump has announced a press conference at his New Jersey golf club on August 17, 2024. This event comes as the former president seeks to counter the recent spotlight on Vice President Kamala Harris, who became the Democratic nominee in late July 2024.
The upcoming press conference follows a similar event held by Trump at his Florida resort the previous week. During that gathering, he addressed topics such as immigration and the economy, while making unverified claims about the size of his campaign crowds compared to Harris's.
In response to Trump's planned event, the Harris campaign issued a satirical media advisory, characterizing it as an opportunity for Trump to "Ramble Incoherently and Spread Dangerous Lies in Public, but at Different Home," referencing his Bedminster estate.
Simultaneously, the Trump campaign has announced five new hires, including Corey Lewandowski, who served as Trump's initial campaign manager during his successful 2016 bid. Lewandowski expressed his enthusiasm for rejoining the campaign on social media platform X, stating, "Let Trump, Be Trump!"
The other additions to Trump's team include Taylor Budowich, Alex Pfeiffer, Alex Bruesewitz, and Tim Murtaugh. These individuals bring experience from previous Trump campaigns and affiliated organizations. Campaign co-managers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles emphasized the new hires' expertise in a statement, highlighting their potential to strengthen the campaign against what they termed "the most radical ticket in American history."
