Trump: Sinwar's death may ease Gaza peace talks
Ex-president Trump suggests Hamas leaders death could help peace efforts in Gaza. He plans to speak with Netanyahu and criticizes Bidens approach‚ amid ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon
Donald Trump former US president and Republican candidate‚ shared his thoughts on the recent events in Gaza. He said that the death of Yahya Sinwar Hamas leader‚ might make peace easier to achieve in the region
Trump told reporters in Detroit (where he was for campaign events) that he thinks it makes it easier. The 62-year-old Sinwar who planned the deadly attack on Israel last year was killed by Israeli forces in southern Gaza a couple days ago
The ex-president mentioned heʼs going to talk to Benjamin Netanyahu soon. He praised the Israeli PM saying hes doing a good job while at the same time criticizing Joe Biden. Trump claimed Biden is trying to hold him back and he probably should be doing the opposite actually
Biden and VP Kamala Harris who Trump is running against in the upcoming election have been supporting Israel in its conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon. However the US government recently sent a letter to Israel asking it to improve the situation in Gaza or face possible limits on US military help
The war in Gaza which started after Hamas attack has caused many problems:
- Thousands of Palestinians killed
- Most of Gazas population forced to leave their homes
- A hunger crisis
- Claims of genocide at the World Court (which Israel denies)
Israel has also increased its military actions in Lebanon where it says its targeting Hezbollah militants. This has resulted in many deaths and displacements in the past year
