Zelenskiy Rejects China-Brazil Peace Plan, Calls for Ukraine's Involvement

Volodymyr Zelenskiy, the President of Ukraine, has expressed strong disapproval of a peace initiative proposed by China and Brazil regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. In an interview with Brazilian media outlet Metropoles, released on September 12, 2024, Zelenskiy characterized the proposal as "destructive" and criticized the lack of Ukrainian involvement in its development.

The China-Brazil peace initiative, initially presented in May 2023, called for an international peace conference with equal participation from all parties. However, Zelenskiy argued that the proposal failed to respect Ukraine's territorial integrity and did not involve consultation with Ukrainian officials.

"How can you offer 'here is our initiative' without asking anything from us?"
