Zelenskyy seeks EU backing for Ukraine's war-ending strategy

Volodymyr Zelenskyy‚ Ukraines leader is in Brussels to get support for his plan to stop the war with Russia. Hes talking to EU bigwigs and NATO defense folks on 10/17/24

Zelenskyy will chat with EU leaders at their get-together and then rush to meet NATO defense ministers. The EU (a group Ukraine wants to join) has been helping Ukraine fight Russia for about 2 years and 8 months

The Ukrainian president told his countrys lawmakers about his five-point plan yesterday‚ but kept some parts secret. Only big allies like the US know all the details

Mark Rutte‚ NATOs boss didnt say much about the plan: “We need to talk more with Ukraine to get whats behind it and see what we can do“

The plan has some tricky bits:
- Ukraine joining NATO
- Using long-range missiles (given by the West) to hit targets in Russia

These ideas make some of Kyivs friends nervous

Ukraine is having a hard time fighting Russia‚ especially in the east. They say help from the West is coming too slow

NATO said Ukraine will join them someday‚ but not now. The US (NATOs biggest member) has an election soon‚ so nothing big will happen until a new president starts in January 2025
