A Group under the auspices of Waziri Frontiers Network (WFN) has called on the main opposition party, People’s Democratic party (PDP) to consider givinhbthe party’s ticket to former vice President Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, saying he has what it takes to guarantee victory for the party come 2019.
The director general of the group Engr. Dan Ohiomoba in his statement issued and made available to newsmen in Kaduna after a zonal meeting of the groups Exco in Abuja called on the entire leadership of PDP and delegates of the party to support Atiku in its forthcoming primaries to avoid defeat in 2019 general elections.
According to the group as contained in the statement, “Atiku is the only sellable candidate among the PDP presidential aspirants. Only Atiku can give the ruling APC government a tough fight despite the National apparatus the ruling party is relying on to ring the election. Atiku has stand tall despite the intimidation by the APC government.”
The group leader, Engr.Ohiomoba als said Nigeria needs a leader like Atiku due to the fact that he is the most prepared and articulated and also a true nationalist. “With Atiku’s experience in both public and private sector, Nigerians can’t fault him! In spite of his movement from political party to party, Atiku’s ambition was borne out of his passion to save Nigeria from derailing.
“The founding fathers and stakeholders of PDP should endorse and support Atiku now in the interest of National Unity to protect our Unity in Diversity. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo as an elder statesman, is expected to give his support to a vice who made sure that great and wonderful things happened during his tenure.
“A man who made sure Nigerian economy was sustained, that foreign direct investments succeeded while ensuring national unity in peace with social acceptance, social investment, security and religious tolerance and stability.
Engr. Ohiomoba also lauds Atiku for inaugurating the Presidential Nomination Council, describing it as a perfect and welcomed development.
He congratulated him for inaugurating the council and judging from the caliber of individuals he choosed to be part of the council, it clearly indicates that he remain the only candidate of PDP who is well prepared for the presidential ticket, adding that the former vice president is a true Democrat.
He further appreciated Atiku for choosing a super delegate and PDP chieftain in the person of Chief. Dan Iwuanyanwu to chair the council, which he described as a perfect decision, adding that it is a symbol of victory in advance.
He therefore used the opportunity to congratulate Chief Dan Iwuanyanwu and other members of the council, appealed to them to use their wealth of political experience in discharging their duties ahead of the PDP National Convention slated for October 6, 2018.
The statement stressed “If PDP genuinely want to rescue Nigeria, the party’s founding fathers, leadership and delegates should support Atiku during the forthcoming Presidential primaries and Let’s get Nigeria working again”.
