Wife of the presidential candidate of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Barr Jennifer Atiku Abubakar, has called on Nigerians to vote for her husband, Atiku Abubakar, in the February 16 presidential election.
Barr Atiku, who was reacting to her husband’s proposed 70 per cent slots in his government for women and youths upon his election, called on Nigerian women and youths across the country to take advantage of the offer made to them by her husband by turning out enmasse to mobilise votes for the PDP in the presidential election, in order to secure for themselves and their children a place in what she described as ‘’the Nigerian Project’’.
Barr Abubakar, also called on the Nigerian women to take lead roles in the scheme of things after being relegated for so long to play second fiddle in the society, even when God has strategically positioned them in the home as pillars of the family, the society and the government.
She appreciated the fact that her husband had offered himself to liberate the Nigerian women and youths from poverty, hunger and shackles of insecurity, pledging to ensure that the place of women in the Atiku/Obi government, as proposed by her husband would be guaranteed.
LEADERSHIP Sunday recalls that the former vice president had, during the PDP national women conference on Friday, pledged not to relegate the Nigerian women to “the other room”, but crave an active engagement for them and the youths in his government.
